Thermal Transfer Labels

Materials

Requires face stock and ribbon

Advantages

  • Different face stock & ribbon combinations provide scratch, smudge and chemical resistance
  • Less expensive material than direct thermal
  • All material is scanable in both visible and infrared light
  • Many face stock choices
  • Longer shelf life

Disadvantages

  • Less efficient with a need to change ribbons
  • Ribbon lengths don’t always match label roll lengths causing more downtime
