High Quality Labels From Start to Finish
At DLS, we are committed to ensuring the highest quality label for you to deliver to your customers. From start to finish of the label manufacturing process, there are checkpoints to make sure that your customers get the long-lasting product they deserve. We are here to ensure every label that leaves our facility meets the most stringent criteria.
The most important first step to ensuring that your customers are happy is making sure that they're getting the right label for their use. With the help of our estimators and other label experts, we will get the details right for what your customers need. In order to give distributors an accurate product, our estimators will first ask for a comprehensive description of the label needs. Through this process, the estimators can get a precise picture of the job before it goes to press so they can accurately relay it to the manufacturing team.
Before the labels go to press, there are a number of checks that must be completed. Machines, materials, and the customer specs are all part of this inspection process. In addition to occasional test runs, the order processors will check:
DLS has skilled operators who inspect the press runs during the printing process. The operators make sure the machine is running correctly and that the labels match the plan based on the job jacket and approved proof. Included in this process are:
Some of our press procedures not only include manual inspections, but also automated quality checks from the presses themselves. These presses include high speed cameras that capture all of the labels in a print job and compare each to the approved design. To ensure that the barcodes scan properly, many of our presses also have an in-line verification system. By adding these extra steps, the machines create an additional level of security and catch potential discrepancies not discovered by human eyes.
Some orders then get sent to the finishing department as one of the final steps of our manufacturing and quality control process. Our technicians in this department will finish the labels into smaller rolls while simultaneously checking for errors. Any labels spotted with mistakes are removed from the roll, and the rest are spliced back together. After these steps, the team brings the completed job to the staging area for verification.
Before the final products leave our facility, our technicians in the shipping department have to complete a final checklist to make sure everything is correct. This process includes doublechecking the addresses of the customers, inspecting the packaging for damage, verifying items and quantities being shipped and protecting fragile products before leaving the facility.
After all of the rounds of checks, we also wrap the finished products in special-colored shrink wrap. Using a unique shrinkwrap color helps us identify where potential damages came from and allows us to correct the issues more efficiently. From the initial conversation of labeling needs all the way to their door, we prioritize the high quality products and services that your customer deserves.
At DLS, we are working on becoming ISO-compliant to guarantee that our products and services consistently meet and exceed our clients' expectations. ISO's principles include a process-oriented approach, a strong focus on customers, active involvement and buy-in of top management, and a commitment to continuous improvement. Our dedication to implementing ISO practices underscores how we deliver the highest caliber solutions to our valued distributors. These standards are essential for providing consistency and transparency to the regulation of national and international trade, and help get quality products out the door at a faster rate.
In the label business, reputation is everything. Producing a quality product and ensuring that our distributors accurately meet their customers' needs is a key part of our reputation. While our goal is to prevent issues from happening, we will work closely with our customers to make it right if something goes wrong. As the quality control landscape changes, we also continually tweak our procedures for future press runs as needed.
