 ### Calculations

#### How many ribbons do I need to print my job?

• First determine the repeat of the label you are printing.
• REPEAT = LABEL HEIGHT + GAP BETWEEN LABELS
• Next determine the number of feet you are printing.
• # OF FEET = REPEAT x # OF LABELS / 12
• Lastly determine the number of ribbon you need.
• # OF RIBBONS = # OF FEET / # OF FEET PER RIBBON

EX: 4 x 6 label - 200m - 1/8" gap - ribbons are 4.33" x 1476'
6.125" = 6" + 0.125"
102,083 = 6.125" x 200,000 / 12
69.16 = 102,083 / 1,476

Round up to 72, the nearest case quantity, for waste factors.

#### How many feet of ribbon do I need per roll?

• Find the number of inches per roll of labels.
• # OF INCHES = # OF LABELS x REPEAT
• Convert calculation to feet.
• # OF FEET = # OF INCHES / 12

EX: 4 x 6 label, 0.125" gap, 1000 labels/roll
6,125 = 1000 x 6.125"
510' = 6,125 / 12

You need approximately 510' feet of ribbon to print 1 roll of 4 x 6 labels. #### How many labels will a roll of ribbon print?

• Convert the ribbon length into inches.
• # OF INCHES = # FEET x 12

• Divide the number of inches by the repeat of the label
• # OF LABELS = # OF INCHES / REPEAT

EX. Ribbon is 1476' printing a 4 x 6 label
17,712 = 1,476 x 12
2892 = 17,712 / 6.125"

Round down to approximately 2850 labels printed with a 1476' foot ribbon.
